Michael J. Garvey, Village President
Michael Garvey and his wife Barb have been married for 29 years and have 3 sons, Jake, Luke and Joey, and are lifelong residents of Brookfield. He is an 18-year survivor of eye cancer. Mike previously served as Brookfield Village President from 2005 until 2013. He was elected Village Trustee in 2013 and again in 2017. Mike was elected as Village President again in 2021.
In the past he served President Pro Tem of the Village Board and as the liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Mike was chosen by his fellow local elected officials to be President of the West Cook County Solid Waste Agency and helped negotiate a new 10-year waste disposal contract for the region. Mike served nearly 15 years as the Solid Waste Agency President and recently joined the Executive Board of the West Central Municipal Conference. Before serving on the Village Board, Mike was Chairman of the Brookfield Plan Commission.
Mike has practiced law for 33 years in the private sector and is a partner in the firm of Stringini & Garvey, P.C. He was admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar and has successfully argued before the Illinois Supreme Court. Mike is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from DePaul University and his law degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign.
Mike is a regular and active volunteer for Project NICE and the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. He previously volunteered as a Brookfield Little League Manager and is a long-time team sponsor. Mike also has served as a Merit Badge Counselor for Scouts.
Brigid Weber, Village Clerk
Brigid Weber is currently serving as Brookfield’s Village Clerk. She is a member of the South and West Municipal Clerk’s Association. Brigid is a licensed local Real Estate Broker for Berkshire Hathaway. Brigid and her husband, Mark are 36-year residents of Brookfield, and have two daughters. Both daughters made their way through District 95 and Riverside-Brookfield High School.
As Village Clerk, Brigid has made it possible to see meeting agendas prior to meetings taking place and audio of past meetings online. Technological improvements in this area have allowed Brookfield to modernize this entire position thanks to Brigid.
Brigid has been a long-time volunteer in Brookfield. She volunteers with the Chamber of Commerce events, Meet the Creek, Project NICE, Monsters on Mainstreet and more. Brigid has the experience and the commitment to do an outstanding job in this important position.
Nicole Gilhooley, Village Trustee
Nicole Gilhooley and her husband, Dennis, have three children, Joseph, Daniel and Catherine and have lived in Brookfield for 17 years.
Nicole currently serves as a board member on the Proviso Township Mental Health Commission. During her previous Village Board tenure, she was Board liaison to the Aging Well Committee, Brookfield Parks and Recreation Commission, Brookfield Library, and a member of the Active Transportation Plan committee. Before being elected to Village Board, Nicole was a member and chairperson of the Brookfield Beautification Commission from 2007 - 2013.
Nicole is an active community volunteer. She is Vice President of the S.E. Gross Middle School PTO and is an RBHS Boosters volunteer. She previously coached youth basketball and soccer and volunteered for Brookfield Little League. At Brook Park School she volunteered in many capacities over 10 years including the coordination of the “Picture Person” supplemental art program.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University Chicago, Nicole has enjoyed a professional and diverse career.
Nicole is the Director of Human Resources for Ultra Consultants, a professional services firm serving the manufacturing and distribution industries in North America. She has a background in information technology and management consulting. Her work has focused on business process improvement, business transformation and enterprise software. Nicole also has previous experience with environmental research where she evaluated and investigated multi-million dollar environmental lawsuits involving major corporations and Superfund sites across the United States. In addition, she has education experience as a long-term substitute art teacher for Nazareth Academy and in enrollment management, admissions and marketing working for The Avery Coonley School.
Edward Cote, Village Trustee
Edward Cote and his wife Mary have lived in Brookfield for 16 years and have two children, Natalie and Liam. Ed is currently serving his second term as Village Trustee where he serves as the Board Liaison for the Brookfield Library and the Department of Public Works. Edward also holds the position of Chairperson for the Finance Committee. During his time on the Board Edward has also served as the Board Liaison for the Conservation Commission.
While living in Brookfield Ed has been very active in the community from coaching youth sports at the YMCA, managing both Baseball and Softball teams in Brookfield Little League to his current role in coaching and being an active board member in Brookfield Western Conference Baseball. Ed is an advocate and volunteer for the Share Food Share Love Food Pantry in Brookfield.
Ed is employed with Verizon as a Senior Engineer responsible for IT Security and Compliance. Ed is the lead for security vulnerability remediation for the Verizon Global desktop infrastructure. He manages compliance audits including licensing, PCI, Sarbanes Oxley and GDPR Privacy assessments. Edward writes policies and analyzes processes responsible for keeping Verizon within mandated compliance regulations.
Edward is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as an Electronics Technician. He received multiple decorations including two Naval Achievement Medals and a Naval Commendation Medal for activities overseas and during the recovery efforts of TWA Flight 800. He is a current member of the Joshua Harris VFW Post 2868. Edward has been invited to serve as a judge on the Military Service Academy Nomination Panel under Illinois’ 4th congressional district.
Jennifer Hendricks, Village Trustee
Jennifer Hendricks and her husband Matt have lived in Brookfield for almost 20 years and have a full house with three teenagers, a dog, and two cats. A Village Trustee since 2021, Jennifer’s volunteer work in Brookfield actually began in 2007 when she joined the Zoning Board of Appeals. She served continuously on that Board and then on the Plan Commission for the Village for 13 years. Jennifer has seen many changes come to Brookfield. Through these positions she has carefully considered public input, worked with staff members, and helped to guide Village policy and growth.
A professional landscape architect now working at a civil engineering firm, she has been designing private and public projects at an individual and neighborhood scale for over 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois, having studied Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. Her master’s work earned her an award in planning from the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2005. Her thesis work as well as her professional work has often focused on sustainable building practices (green roofs, LEED-certification). Jennifer served the public as a Project Manager in the Planning Department of the Naperville Park District. In this capacity, she was ultimately responsible to all the residents of the District and worked with the public regularly.
Jennifer also served for 6 years on the Board of Directors and as Business Manager of a local non-profit organization (The Tower Chorale). Here, she held responsibility for the fiscal fitness and direction of the organization.
Passionate about her work here, Jennifer is dedicated to our Village. She appreciates its beauty, diversity, walkability, connectedness, friendliness, and the passion of its residents. She values having planted roots here and hopes that through continued service as a Trustee, she may help Brookfield to bloom even brighter.
Katie Kaluzny, Village Trustee
Katie and her husband Mike have lived in Brookfield for 8 years and have two children, Josie and Abby. Katie has been a Village Trustee since 2019.
Katie served as commissioner on the Brookfield Conservation Commission from 2016 to 2019 and now serves at the Village Board liaison to the commission. Katie also served on the steering committee for the Brookfield Comprehensive Plan in 2017. Katie volunteers regularly at the Brookfield Oak Savanna for work days, co-founded Go Green Brookfield, and serves on the Environment Committee for the Metropolitan Mayor’s Caucus. Katie also serves on the yearbook committee for Brook Park Elementary School.
Katie has worked in the nonprofit sector for nearly 20 years and is currently the Associate Director at the Illinois Green Alliance, the nonprofit chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. During her 14 years at Illinois Green, Katie has worked with the green building industry in the Chicagoland area to educate, convene stakeholders and engage community leaders around green, healthy and energy efficiency strategies in buildings and communities. Prior to her time at Illinois Green Alliance, Katie worked for the City of Chicago’s Department of Environment planning public programming at the Chicago Center for Green Technology. She also managed the volunteer and intern programs at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum for four years. In 2018, Katie received a 30 under 40 Award from the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce, an award that recognizes professionals who are making a deep impact on our local communities.
Katie received her Bachelors Degree in Environmental Policy and Natural Resources Management from the University of Michigan and a Masters Degree in Public Service Administration from DePaul University.
Kit Ketchmark, Village Trustee
Kit Ketchmark is a lifelong resident of Brookfield, residing in the Hollywood area for the past 32 years with his wife Kathy and two sons, Cameron and Trent. Kit served as Village President for 8 years after being elected in 2013 and 2017. Prior to being elected as Village President, Kit served 10 years as Village Trustee.
In addition to Village President and Trustee, Kit has served the Village of Brookfield as Finance Chariman, liaison to the Parks and Recreation, Conservation, Administration and Public Safety committees, and as a member of the Audit and Infrastructure Committees, the Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Committee and Board of Local Improvements.
Kit is a member of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Citizens Association. He has served as Director of the Brookfield Historical Society since 1993, was co-chair of the Mainstreet Brookfield Promotion Committee, and volunteered as a Little League and Babe Ruth team sponsor, coach and manager for more than 15 years. Kit also led the group that restored and rededicated the F-86 Sabre Jet Korean War Memorial in Jaycee Ehlert Park. In 2009, Kit was awarded the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award by the Illinois Humanities Council for his service to the Community.
Kit is the President and General Manager of a Brookfield-based, 30-year-old landscape construction and design firm where he oversees all aspects of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, marketing and project management.
Kit graduated from Lincoln School in Brookfield in 1978, and from Lyons Township High School in 1982. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois Chicago, majoring in finance and human resource management.
Julie Narimatsu, Village Trustee
Julie Narimatsu and her husband, Chad, have lived in Brookfield for 8 years and have two children, Stephen and Emery. Julie has served as a Village Trustee since 2023.
Julie has served as a commissioner on the Brookfield Parks & Recreation Commission since 2020 and also serves as the President of the newly founded Brookfield Parks & Recreation Foundation. Julie is also highly involved with the Congress Park Elementary PTO, co-race directing a 5k and 1-mile Fun Run that raises funds for District 102's six schools. Previously, she served as the PTO Treasurer, chair for various events, and on the District 102 Delegate Assembly over her 7 years in the district.
Julie has worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Inspector General for the past 13 years, conducting program audits and evaluations surrounding air quality and other national environmental issues.
She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Policy and Behavior at the University of Michigan and a Masters Degree in International Relations and law degree from Syracuse University.
